Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using Syntax Styler (“the Add-on”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Add-on.

2. Description of Service

Syntax Styler is a free Google Workspace™ Add-on that provides syntax highlighting and code formatting functionality within Google Docs™, Google Slides™, and Google Sheets™. The Add-on processes text selected by the user and applies visual formatting (colours, fonts, styles) to represent programming language syntax.

3. Eligibility

Syntax Styler is available to anyone with a Google Workspace™ or personal Google account. The Add-on is designed for use by developers, educators, technical writers, and anyone who needs to present code in their documents.

4. Free of Charge

Syntax Styler is provided free of charge. There are no paid tiers, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. The developer reserves the right to introduce optional paid features in the future, but current functionality will remain free.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain 100% ownership of your document content. Syntax Styler does not claim any rights to the code or text you format using the Add-on.

The Syntax Styler brand, logo, and source code are the intellectual property of Sethi De Clercq. The Add-on incorporates the open-source Highlight.js library, which is used under the BSD 3-Clause License.

6. User Responsibility

You are responsible for the content of your documents. Syntax Styler is a formatting tool and does not monitor, validate, or curate the code you write. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Add-on complies with your organisation's policies and applicable laws.

7. Limitation of Liability

Syntax Styler is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The developer shall not be liable for:

• Any formatting errors or unintended changes to document content.
• Data loss resulting from the use or inability to use the Add-on.
• Service interruptions caused by Google Workspace™ platform changes.
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

8. Modifications to Service

The developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Add-on at any time without prior notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable international law. Any disputes arising from the use of this Add-on shall be resolved through good-faith communication.
